About this Piece:
Teshia created "The Zookeeper" as a tribute to her beloved hometown of Missoula, MT, often referred to as "The Zoo" or "Zootown" by locals. Her goal was to create a one-of-a-kind, vibrant painting that would marry the wild & rugged beauty of the western wilderness with the tranquil mountains & rivers of the picturesque Missoula area. Thus, "The Zookeeper" was born.
"The Zookeeper" Grizzly Bear stands stoically over the famous Clark Fork River, & is a symbol of many things. He is protector of the wilderness & an emblem of the sacred nature that surrounds us. He is an icon of the precious wildlife that inhabits the west & thrives in the rugged Rocky Mountains. He is a proud representation of the thriving, infectious energy of Missoula, MT on a warm summer afternoon. He is one of the most treasured & respected animals of North America. He is dominant, powerful, protective & alluring. People from all over the world come to the western regions of North America in hopes of seeing this remarkable & elusive animal in his natural habitat.
