The Flathead Four
About this Piece:
“The Flathead Four” was a custom commissioned painting for a lovely family in Whitefish, Montana. This was a special request for the family; however, the inspiration behind the piece (& title) is explained a bit further below….
The story is that the bison herd of Montana’s scenic Mission Valley originated when a Native American of the Pend d'Oreille tribe returned home from the plains of Eastern Montana to the Flathead Reservation with just 4 bison. By 1884, his herd had grown to 13 animals, when they were sold to local ranchers and partners. The herd thrived and became one of the largest private bison herds in the country, as it remains today.
Teshia’s “The Flathead Four” painting is symbolic of these 4 original bison that roamed the rolling hills & plains of the beautiful Mission & Flathead Valleys of Montana, and thereafter created the majestic herd that so many love & admire to this day. The mountain peak in the background represents Mount Jackson (this is the mountain that these Collectors requested, as it is the peak that they view from their beautiful home).
